Process

  • Stage 1 - Outline Concept Plans

Our first meeting will give us a chance to talk about how the space needs to work for you and how you would like the garden to feel. We’ll talk materials, plants and lighting for example and work towards setting a design brief for your garden. A survey of your garden will be carried out either by myself, or a landscape surveyor to chart any level changes and positions of utilities and structures. I’ll produce a concept design, including mood images and examples of materials and plants.

  • Stage 2 - Design Development

I’ll work up a masterplan for the garden specifying materials and if necessary any construction detail drawings. A schedule of Work will be drawn up and a design package put together to send out to landscape contractors - I can sometimes suggest suitable contractors in your area. During the build the contract will be between you, the client, and the landscaping contractors. I will be available for meetings with them and can provide any additional drawings if needed.

  • Stage 3 - Planting Design

I will suggest suitable plants for the garden as part of stage 1. I can also provide a full planting plan which lists every plant, their position in the garden and a schedule for pricing. When the time comes I can organise the buying and delivery of trees, plants and soil.

  • Stage 4 - Build

A landscape contractor will have been appointed to carry out the works. They will be responsible for ordering materials and liaising with you, the client, regarding project timings. I will meet with the contractors on site to run through the plans and be available for any questions they have throughout.

  • Stage 5 - Ongoing Garden Maintenance

Depending on location I can find or suggest garden maintenance firms or gardeners to fulfil the ongoing maintenance of the garden.
